Visiting Hours

Considering the density at Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, which stands as a symbol of the Conquest of Istanbul and is the legacy of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, and being a precious gem in the Islamic geography, the visiting hours have been arranged accordingly.

  • The doors are opened 30 minutes before the time of Fajr prayer (pre-dawn) to allow visitors inside.
  • 30 minutes after sunrise, the mosque is evacuated temporarily for cleaning.
  • Between 07:30 and 09:00, general cleaning and hygiene activities are carried out.
  • From 09:00 to 24:00, visitor admission continues.
  • After 24:00, the mosque is closed for visitation until 30 minutes before the time of Fajr prayer.

How to Get to Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque?

Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque hosts around 35,000 people daily for visits and worship. Hagia Sophia is situated in the Fatih district of Istanbul. It is located within Sultanahmet. The easiest way to reach Sultanahmet is by tram. By taking the Bağcılar-Kabataş tram, you can get off at Sultanahmet stop to reach Hagia Sophia. It’s also possible to reach Hagia Sophia Mosque by using İETT buses from various parts of Istanbul to Eminönü, and then making your way to Hagia Sophia Mosque.

Additionally, if you get off at İETT Adliye Bus Stop located nearby, you can reach Hagia Sophia Mosque by walking for around five hundred meters.
